Cuba has an amazing chain of islands that surrounds it, over four thousand of these little jewels in the ocean lie lazily under the Caribbean sun. Situated off the north coast in the province of Villa Clara which is in central Cuba, these idyllic beaches are on keys (small islands) known as the Cayos de la Herradura.

You can get to these little jewels in the ocean by road as there is a road built over the sea, you can even fly here on a domestic flight from Havana.
Santa Lucia beach is another delightful place to go for some peace and relaxation. It is in the Camaguey Province which is on the north eastern coast. It is still however, a really quiet place to enjoy snorkeling, sunbathing and just messing around in the wonderful shallow waters.

On the north coast of the Holguin Province you will find three lovely beaches, Guardalaya, Playa Esmeralda and Playa Pesquero. Guardalavaca is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches in Cuba with fishing, diving and snorkeling along the coral reefs, an amazing experience not to be missed. The hotels in the area are wonderful with outdoor parties on the beach being organized all the time.
Playa Pesquero has a hotel which is an ideal choice for families to stay at during their trips to Cuba. This hotel is the largest on the island and has everything youngsters would ever need to have a great time on vacation.

Ernest Hemingway used to sail his boat El Pilar in these crystal clear waters, fishing for marlin and there is a beach named after him Beach Pilar. This fantastic beach gives on to waters which have swordfish swimming around them which are bigger than most people have ever seen. There is an annual fishing competition which takes place when hundreds of people try their luck at catching them.
